Sinopse: Plantão Médico ou ER foi uma série dramática criada por Michael Chichton, produzida pela divisão de TV da Warner Bros e pela Amblin Television de Steven Spielberg, que trata acerca da vida e da morte numa sala de emergência do hospital County General de Chicago, Illinois e também mostra a complexa vida dos pessoal médico que trabalham nela. ER, nome original da série, vem de Emergency Room (Sala de Emêrgência).
O espetáculo foi apresentado originalmente nos Estados Unidos, pela rede NBC entre 19 de setembro de 1994 a 2 de abril de 2009, num total de 331 episódios, de aproximadamente 60 minutos cada, em 15 temporadas.
A série é ganhadora do prêmio George Foster Peabody Award, além de ter sido indicada por 123 vezes ao Prêmio Emmy, sendo considerada portanto, a série de maior número de indicações da história do prêmio, e foi vencedora por 22 vezes, entre 1995 ate 2005, com exceção ao ano de 2004.
